A Private Treaty Sale is a legal agreement where a property is sold directly to the person who wants to buy it. In this method, the seller sets the price, and the House of Craven negotiates with potential buyers to get the best possible price.
House of Craven charges a commission fee for consigned property. House of Craven's standard commission fee is twenty percent (20.0%) and covers all expenses including: photography; marketing; insurance; and buy-in fees.
House of Craven will thoroughly research your item(s) and set the sales estimate in the range at which comparable items have recently sold at auction. In addition to the sales estimate we provide, we will usually outline the ‘start price’ as well. This is the price at which bidding will begin. Further, in 2023, we became an equity investor (stockholder) in WorthPoint Corporation, headquartered in Atlanta, GA. WorthPoint is one resource for its library of 1.3 billion digital images, 235,000 marks, and Price Guide (715 million pricing data points tracing back 15 years).
A Reserve is the minimum amount that a seller will accept as the winning bid. This price should be set somewhere in between the ‘start price’ and the low estimate. The majority of House of Craven's items are sold without a reserve and we recommend this approach. Since we set a ‘start price’ with the estimate we provide, the ‘start price’ essentially acts as the reserve.
House of Craven accepts consignments by appointment and you are free to drop off your items personally, by scheduling an appointment. If you need assistance shipping your items, we can also recommend local, national and international shippers our clients have used successfully. House of Craven has a new 20Ft International DuraStar Commercial Truck. If you are within thirty (30) miles of the West Palm Beach warehouse, we charge a fee of $175, subject to additional terms and condition.
